kmfm Tonnes of Tins

We are asking you to help us collect "Tonnes of Tins"

No doubt you've been hearing in the news on kmfm, reading on KentOnline or watching on tv…..more people than ever are relying on food banks to get by.

Food poverty is sadly impacting many in Kent, so we have teamed up with UK Harvest to collect as many tonnes of tins as possible by mid August. (Fri 11th Aug)

Approximately 2400 420g tins of beans or a similar food would equate to 1 tonne and we are going to see how many tonnes we can collect and distribute in the 6 week time frame we have!

"We are ready to help as many people as possible during this challenging economic time and we will be using our radio shows, socials and friends of kmfm. We have to deliver BIG!" said the kmfm Team.

1 - Buy tins of food via a supermarket or online store and arrange delivery of them to the kmfm Studios (address below) during office hours (0900 - 1700) between Monday and Friday. We can only accept your order during these delivery times to ensure that the team are in work and able to store the tins properly.

All of the food delivered will be kept in an air-conditioned room and handed over to the UK Harvest team who will distribute.

Address: kmfm (Tonnes of Tins), Medway House, Sir Thomas Longley Road, Medway City Estate, Rochester, ME2 4DU

3 - Donate via our Just Giving page and at the end of the 6 weeks we will use the funds raised to purchase as many tins of food as we can before having them delivered to UK Harvest. This is a great way to get involved quickly and easily.

You can visit our Just Giving page by clicking HERE.

Together we could make a huge difference to people in Kent. So get involved from your home, get the team involved in your workplace or get your family and friends involved. If you are in the position to help - we would love your support. Please only donate what you can - the smallest amount will add plenty of tins to our efforts.

Help us beat food poverty in Kent with kmfm’s Tonnes of Tins supported by Southern Water and delivered by UK Harvest.

FAQs

Why can't I deliver or have the tins delivered at the weekend?

From other campaigns such as Give A Gift, we know that our listeners really dig deep so we need to ensure that we have enough people at our office to help. The best time for this is Monday - Friday between 9am and 5pm.

Which days can I deliver or have my shopping delivered?

You can either come to the kmfm studios or have your shopping delivered Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Where should I deliver the tins?

Please deliver or chose your delivery address as

kmfm (Tonnes of Tins)

Medway House

Sir Thomas Longley Road

Medway City Estate

Rochester

ME2 4DU

Your address isn't coming up on the supermarket site I am using?

You may or may not know but kmfm is a part of the bigger KM Media Group family so some delivery companies see our address as:

  • KM Media Group
  • Medway House
  • KMFM Media Group
  • Iliffe Media Group

How do I know that you have delivered our food donation?

As soon as you have delivered your tins or had your tins delivered at kmfm, they are stored securely within our studio complex. We have then arranged regular pick ups by UK Harvest to ensure that everything is ready to get to the places it needs to.

So how do the money donations work?

We know that many people want to help but time is not on their side. By making a donation, we will (at the end of the campaign) reach out to cash and carries and use that money to buy many different types of food stuff and add this to our total.

Why can't I deliver straight to UK Harvest?

You can! And we would love for you to find out more about UK Harvest and the fantastic work they do around the UK. This campaign is aimed at directly helping families across Kent and Medway and we have partnered with UK Harvest and Southern Water to make this possible.

What kind of food should I send?
