kmfm's Tonnes of Tins 2026
Kent’s Biggest Food Collection is back!

Can you help us collect Tonnes of Tins for local food banks in Kent?
More people across Kent are continuing to rely on food banks as the cost of living crisis places increasing pressure on families and individuals. Across the UK, food banks in the Trussell Trust network distributed more than 2.6 million emergency food parcels in the last year alone - equivalent to one every 12 seconds - including over 900,000 for children.
Here in Kent, local food banks are also seeing demand continue to rise. Deal Area Foodbank & Pantry reported a 53% increase in food parcels distributed compared to the previous year, while The Rainbow Centre helped feed nearly 10,000 adults and children last year.
Despite the incredible work of volunteers, many food banks are struggling to keep shelves stocked as demand grows and donations come under increasing pressure.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Clive Emson Auctioneers to collect and deliver as many “Tonnes of Tins” as possible across Kent.
Between Monday 6th July 2026 and Friday 24th July 2026, we’re aiming to collect as many non-perishable food items as possible to support 19 food banks and organisations across Kent - more than ever before.
Deliveries will begin from Monday 3rd August 2026.
Every donation will help local food banks continue supporting people in crisis across our community.

Approximately 2,400 tins (420g each) make up one tonne. Last year, thanks to your generosity, we collected an incredible 11.1 tonnes of donations to support 16 food banks. This year, we’re aiming to go even further by reaching 19 food banks.
Last Year on Tonnes of Tins
Can we reach 12 tonnes this year?

Donate a small amount of money to our JustGiving page here or click the logo below. We will purchase tins of food, supplies and more with Tesco, Park Farm Ashford.

Can I deliver my donations to you?
This year we ideally want to raise as much through donations via our JustGiving page. We also appreciate that doesn't work for everyone, so you can drop off tins of food to kmfm HQ.
The address is: kmfm, Medway House, Sir Thomas Longley Rd, Rochester ME2 4DU (01634 227800). Please note, office opening times are Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00. Deliveries outside of these times may not be accepted.
If you are a listener or a Kent business and do decide to donate in person, come and say "Hi" to the kmfm presenters, who will be more than happy to say thank you and have a photo taken with you.
Can I send an online supermarket shop to kmfm?
Again, we ideally want to raise as much through donations via our JustGiving page, and with Tesco making the deliveries, it would be just the same to donate the money via our JustGiving page.
How long do I have to donate?
Donations for Tonnes of Tins 2026 can be made between 6th July and 24th July. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that any tins delivered after this date will reach a food bank.
Can I donate after the campaign?
Unfortunately not. The logistics for the deliveries are huge, so if you can, please donate before end of play Friday 24th July 2026.
What food banks are you supporting?
Last year, we supported 16 food banks, and this year we’re aiming to reach even more - 19 in total! We hope to support one food bank in each kmfm area.
Do you only accept tin donations?
Ideally, we would like tins of food that contribute to making a meal. Like beans, soup and lentils. As well as bags of pasta, rice, cereals, nappies and long-life food items that are not perishable.
Do you want donations other than food?
Listeners have previously donated items like shower gels and shampoos, and while these will not be turned away, ideally we would like donations to be food.
Do food donations need to be within the best before date?
Yes - any food that is out of date will have to be removed.
Can I donate fresh food?
Unfortunately not. Please consider long-life food items.
What do you do with the donations from Just Giving?
Sainsbury's at Simone Weil Ave, Ashford have our very long shopping list, and donations are spent on food and supplies with them.
